Yippeee.
We're back from Frank's Vaccuum and Sewing Repair.
Apparently I was a little rough on her.
Sorry Betty.
{yes, my sewing machine is named Betty}
I was trying to force extra thick fabric through Betty to sew,
when the needle wasn't the right size,
and I hadn't set the tension properly.
But I was gonna make it work
I was trying to make it work my way instead of doing it the right way.
ha.
I can hear the metaphor ringing.
So now she's back.
But where am I in all of this?
Because it's not only about a sewing machine.
really.
It's about trust.
It's about me not forcing my way, my rules, my schedule, my plans.
Am I willing to let go?
Delight yourself in the Lord
and He shall give you the desires of your heart
{Psalm 37:4}
What that doesn't say is delight yourself in your own plans and you will make it happen.
ha.
How many times have I walked down that road?
More than I'd like to count.
Oh my.
But the good news is,
His gentle reminder.
Sometimes it comes in the form of a sewing machine.
And I am softly nudged.
Trust Him.
Delight in Him.
Can I let go?
Can I let go right now, for just this very moment?
When this moment passes,
Can I let go again?
Yes.
Breathe.
I can do that.
In this moment I can trust Him.
Lean not on your own understanding,
In all your ways, acknowledge Him
And He shall direct your paths.
{Proverbs 3:5-6}

I trust You Lord.
I am letting go.
Right now.
Just now.
I will let go in this moment.
of all my plans of what is and what isn't a good idea.
aaaahhhhh.
I can breathe deeper.
I turn myself over to you.
I don't have to worry.
I cast my cares on You,
{1 Peter 5:7}
And right now, Lord, I just wanna say
thank you
thank you for teaching me big things in the little things.
I love you Daddy

so true. trust is hard, but when you give it to God good things happen. it's almost like a burden taken off your shoulders when you don't have to rely on yourself anymore. God is so cool that way. Reminds me of Exodus 14:14. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those moments where God speaks to you through your own silliness. Lovely post =) x
ReplyDeleteI loved the sarcastic "delight yourself in your own plans and you will make it happen." Were you talking directly to me or what?? :) Thank you so much for this post.
