Many experts recognize the connection between Fibromyalgia and Candida. This is mainly because of some complications of Candida overgrowth that are also experienced by patients with fibromyalgia. These include the following:
• Fatigue
• Low thyroid hormone levels or hypothyroidism
• digestive problems (diarrhea and IBS)
• Allergies
• Dizziness, brain fog, headaches
• Anxiety and depression
Fibromyalgia is characterized as an autoimmune disorder which is diagnosed when the abovementioned symptoms are observed in addition to painful muscles, sore joints, sleep disorders, low energy levels, and impaired immunity.
Furthermore, yeast overgrowth occurs when one’s immune system gets weak and unable to carry out its functions. Likewise, fibromyalgia is believed to be a result of an overworked immune system.
Although there is no specific cause of fibromyalgia, there is a wide array of factors that seem to contribute to the development and onset of symptoms. One such factor can cause an autoimmune response which leads to the abnormal functioning of the immune system, as it acts against normal tissues. There can be several reasons for this:
• Immune system is incapable of identifying normal tissues properly
• There is an alteration, reduction, depression, or damage in the normal immune cells
• Tissue is already damaged which makes it unable to receive the right messages
• An overall damage to the immune system including the tissue receptor sites and other communicating immune factors
Most of the symptoms of fibromyalgia are also exhibited by viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections. However, intestinal yeast infection, specifically Candida albicans, is the most pronounced. This is because unlike other infections that cause immune responses that are trigerred only at once, Candida causes autoimmune responses with the same fibromyalgia symptoms continuously.
In addition, Candida produces a variety of harmful toxins that are believed to cause fibromyalgia symptoms. These are the following:
• Ethanol which an alcohol that causes intoxication and cell mutation
• Acetaldehyde which is a poisonous alcohol metabolite that causes cell mutation (6 times more intoxicating than ethanol)
• Canditoxin which interferes with immunity
• Proteinase which further enhances the potency of Candida
• Histamineand polysaccharide proteins which reduce immunity
• Glycoprotein toxin and tyramine which impedes immune function
Two of the most potent toxins produced by Candida are ethanol and acetaldehyde. These toxins alter the immune cell membrane structure which then results to abnormal tissue identification. What’s bad about this is that during immue cell replication, the mutation is copied, thereby causing a lot of mutated immune cells. As a result, there is poor intestinal function. Intoxication can also cause chronic fatigue, high stress levels, and destruction of the enzymes responsible for all physiological and biochemical processes in the body. Hormonal imbalance leading to depression, pre-menstrual syndrome(PMS), and personality disorders is also a consequence of ethanol and acetaldehyde.
The presence of all these toxins produced by Candida induces the symptoms of fibromyalgia as a result of an overall weakening of the immune system. This is even made worse when Candida is not immediately detected primarily because the yeast will continue to quickly grow, multiply, and release toxins without you even knowing it. It is important to recognize and treat the Candida quickly, the longer it grows the harder it is to get rid of and the more likely there to have additional complications like Fibromyalgia!
