John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father “

This verse came to mind as I was reading an email that I receive daily from Ravi Zacherias Institutional Ministries in Atlanta GA. Margaret Manning wrote “We too can bring healing, call powers and principalities into justice, bring order to chaos, and new life to what was dead.” WOW! This seems like tall order!! How is this even possible when I can’t even get out the door in time to get my kids to school. But there it is….”I can’t”. Those two words that say so much. How often do we speak those words over ourselves without a second thought.
How many times have you heard statements like: “I can’t believe how sick she is, she will never recover from that!”, “I can’t lose this weight”, “I can’t get my house in order and get the kids to do their homework, its hopeless!”, “I can’t stay in a dead marriage any longer”. A lot of “I can’t” that we hear or say in our everyday life, does anyone else feel STIFLED?!
That stifling feeling is the Holy Spirit saying “I CAN!!” How often do we fail before we even begin because we started with “I can’t”. The truth is…we can’t, in our own strength, we can do nothing! Does this experiential truth stop us? It usually does, but if we meditate on the Truth of God - His word, we see verses like Ro. 4:20-22 “He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He (God) had promised He (God) was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him (Abraham) for righteousness.”
It is so easy for me to decide ‘I can’t’ when it is something that I am afraid of or don’t want to do in the first place. James 3:14 says “But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.” I CAN when I am walking in the Spirit by His strength! To say differently is to ‘lie against the truth’. AAWWWW, the power of the tongue. James 3:8-10 says “But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.” I believe that to say I can’t is to curse myself to fail by my own limitations when I could instead bless my God by showing ‘He can’ and give Him the glory!
I have lived so many “I can’ts” as a wife, mother, friend, and in my home business. I want to be done with that and live by the Power of the Holy Spirit! 1 Pet. 5:10 & 11 says “Now the God of all grace, who called ME to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support ME after I have suffered a little. To Him be the dominion forever. Amen.” Obviously I have personalized that verse. Do you need to personalize that verse too? Do you struggle with all the things that you can’t do in life? Let me encourage you….God has a plan for you in your relationships, in your business, in your very day to day living! Seek Him first and He will establish and strengthen you for that good work!!
Be blessed:)

“If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you do with your life?” That’s a question that keeps presenting itself to me. What success or experiences am I missing out on because of my own ? As humans, in our flesh, we are motivated by two things; pleasure or pain. We are willing to take certain risks and go out of our comfort zone if we are rewarded with pleasurable results. However, sometimes we do not believe those results are obtainable and therefore avoid any pain that might be derived from stepping out in faith. Read More
