How to be a strong and courageous leader in a home business?

Leadership has been a big question for me lately. I have a home business that has been built up into a team of people that I am to lead. So what does leadership look like for me? I wonder these things because my very personality is fun loving and laid back but I know God is calling me to be more than I have been before. A new favorite verse for me is Isaiah 42:16 “I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.” This verse came up in a bible study I was doing and I just loved it! I then received a daily devotional book from a friend on leadership and that was the opening verse, I didn’t even realize that this was a verse to be applied to a leader. So cool!
I guess I have always had this misconception that people who lead always know what they are doing. Kind of a ridiculous thought when you look at some of the leaders in the Old Testament. Abraham didn’t know what he was doing when he took his family and left home, or when he took his son to be offered as a sacrifice, he just did it because he was following God. Moses had no idea that he would wonder around in the desert for 40 years after they left Egypt, but he did it, following God the whole time! God had a plan; He had a path that He would lead these men on that they did not know. All they had to do was to respond to their Gods calling by following Him. How often would I say “no way” if I actually saw the plan or path that God has chosen for me. In His wisdom He keeps it hidden from me. I look at challenges and tasks and think “impossible!” forgetting that with God nothing is impossible. He is surprising, imaginative, wise, and wonderful. I love that as He calls me to lead, He has already paved a path for me to take that He himself is leading me on. I heard once that a good leader is a good follower, for me that is KEY! I don’t have to think about the leading, I just get to respond to my God by following Him!
I am going to a leadership seminar for home businesses, this weekend. I am ssooo excited! I have always thought that we were born as either leaders or followers, and that is partly true. Some are just gifted in that area more than others, but it is also a learned skill. That excites me because I know if someone can teach it, I can learn it! It also is exciting to me because I know that this is God’s plan for me. I am distributor and leader for Uri International. Just as it was God’s plan for Joshua to take the Promised Land and He encouraged him to be strong and courageous, God also will reveal a portion of His plan for us and then encourage us to walk in it, being strong and courageous! AAAHHH, to lead with God’s strength and full of courage. Here I am LORD, send me!

Yep, I too think of leading as following Him. As hard and fast as I am able. If someone wants to run with me….Yay! If someone is ahead of me, I follow them. God is good.
